Didn´t know Big Hole, Open Mine or Kimberley Mine (Afrikaans: Groot Gat) is an open-pit and underground diamond mine in Kimberley, South Africa,claimed to be largest hole excavated by hand; in 40 yrs. up to 50,000 miners dug hole with picks and shovels, yielding 6,000 lbs of diamonds.
